Step 1: Take good backups Step 2: Confirm those backups Step 3: Repeat Step 1 I see the following all too often: 🔵 Complacency about backups 🔵 Faith in the stability and longevity of server hardware 🔵 Belief that someone else is making sure backups exist 🔵 Hope that nothing catastrophic will happen ❗ It behooves all leaders to be asking their team for proof of: 1️⃣ Database backup retention 2️⃣ Backups locations (including off-server/cloud) 3️⃣ Restore test results (hopefully recurring) If you lose the data...you could lose your company, agency, or your job.
